Ingredient List


  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1-2 teaspoons chili sauce (or to taste)
  • 2/3 cup vegetable broth
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons agave nectar


Chick and Vegetables:

  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper
  • 16 ounces (2 packages) Upton’s Chick Seitan
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3-4 scallions, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons freshly-grated ginger
  • 1 head broccoli, cut into florets and steamed


For serving:

  • 1 1/2-2 cups cooked rice
  • 1/2 cup sliced scallion
Mix all sauce ingredients together. Set aside.

Stir together the cornstarch, soy sauce, and pepper in a medium bowl. Add the Chick Seitan and toss to coat. Add the vegetable oil to a skillet and heat over medium-high. Add the chick seitan and pan fry until crispy on all sides, about 5 minutes on each side. Add the scallions, garlic, and ginger and cook for 30 more seconds.

Add the broccoli and sauce and continue cooking until the sauce thickens and the Chick Seitan and broccoli are thoroughly coated. Remove from heat.

Serve on a bed of rice and top with chopped scallion.
